For a While No One Wanted Me.... Now EVERYONE Does
Why is that as soon as I apply for a position that I would really, really like to have that all these other Prospective Employers come a-callin'? I had a phone interview today with Company #1 and it seems like I'll be setting up an interview of some sort with Company #2 next week. The funny thing is that I applied for the position with Company #2 back in either October or early November. I had assumed that my resume had been ignored and I would move on. Oh well :) Company #3 I was playing phone tag with for a while, but they have apparently moved on with other candidates since they have yet to return a call since the last time I tagged them back. And I got an e-mail from Company #4 saying that the position I applied for is on hold at the moment, but when it does come back into play that I am on the list of people they would like to get in contact with.
This is what I see happening: The position I really, really want does not start interviewing until the end of February/early March with the position beginning in April. It is a seasonal position, however, but it would provide vital experience for me to get into the History field and actually put that Very Expensive Piece of Paper to good use. I have a feeling that one of the above Prospective Employers will offer me a job and it would pay me closer to what I really deserve so it would be difficult to pass up (anything more than what Lane Bryant was paying me would do, and LB didn't pay me much). Then Really Want Job will call, I'll interview for it and get offered that position. Truth be told I could do both. I could work the Really Want Job on the weekends (since it's technically part-time with hours going up to 35 per week) and the job with Company #1-4 during the week, but if I'm going to do that from April to October, I'll probably burn myself out by July. Especially if I follow through with going to school to become an EMT. So far the school thing has been a $25 investment, so it's not a huge loss if I choose to skip that for now and pursue a career with the degree I already have.
But so far the only thing I have for sure is that I'm taking steps to start school in June... I'm not completely done with that process, but I'm almost there. We'll see what the next month brings my way.
