Yeah, that guy is nuts. There's nothing wrong with the SIMs, although the online version got a bit raunchy, as I recall. GTA though, I can see where some people have a beef with it. And the hot coffee thing, as explained nicely by Penny Arcade really was ridiculous in the way that the producers lied about it blaming the hot coffee section on "hackers" even when you can't hack into a PS2 game.
