Move Along People...Nothing to See Here
No, seriously. Life has become somewhat boring this week. Nothing overly exciting. Chad's been working a split shift so that he can help out with the Times switching to a new system...or something like that. To be honest, I really don't quite understand what this system switch entails other than Chad being at work ridiculously late and myself being very bored while he's gone and also being up ridiculously late because I have a hell of a time sleeping if he's not home.
So...ummm... let's see....what else? Oh! We're going to Green Bay this weekend. Have to pick up the remainder of Erik's Christmas presents, get our pictures taken (ugh!) for the St. Matthew parish book because my mom doesn't want to have a picture of just herself in it. Also, Chad and I will get an evening to ourselves. Mom bought us tickets to Les Miserables for Christmas and she was also very quick to mention that she would love to babysit. Then, after this weekend, we have to start getting things ready for the big family trip to Arizona. Temperatures in the 70s and possibly 80s... woo hoo!
Latest Wicket Antic: Stupid cat started licking sour cream right out of the container that we had left on the table while eating tonight. That cat will eat anything. Except salsa. He tried it though. Man, that was funny.
Current Read: The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Presents America (the Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction. Maybe it's because I have a degree in history, but I find this book absolutely hilarious. So far my favorite part is the false start to Chapter 7 concerning the media (page 131 to be exact):
"A free and independent press is essential to the health of a functioning democracy. It serves to inform the voting public on matters relevant to its well-being. Why they've stopped doing that is a mystery. I mean, 300 camera crews outside a courthouse to see what Kobe Bryant is wearing when the judge sets his hearing date, while false information used to send our country to war goes unchecked? What the fuck happened? These spineless cowards in the press have finally gone to far. They have violated a trust. 'Was the president successful in convincing the country?' Who gives a shit? Why not tell us if what he said was true? And the excuses. My God, the excuses! 'Hey, we just give the people what they want.' ' What can we do, this administration is secretive.' 'But the last season of Friends really is news.' The unmitigated gall of these weak-willed...You're supposed to be helping us, you indecent piles of shit! I...fuck it. Just fuck it..."
Ah... I just love it. I suggest picking up a copy or checking it out at the library. However, if you're a hardcore conservative, you probably don't want to be reading this book. It's not like you would appreciate The Daily Show's sense of humor anyway. Because, heaven forbid if someone makes fun of the president! (The previous statement is made from experience...just FYI)

Hope the GB trip went well, with the snow and all. I once fed a racoon peanuts with tabasco sauce on them. That too was hilarious. Not that I condone cruelty to pets, but in the name of a funny - you could try it sometime. :P
