To Anyone Who Was a Student

After Katie's rant on her blog, I felt it necessary to repost my comment to her post here:

Teachers don't get paid enough, that is painfully obvious and extremely unfortunate. Since teachers teach everyone (doctors, lawyers, etc.) shouldn't they make a nice comfortable, livable salary. We wouldn't have doctors and lawyers and everything else without someone to TEACH them and plant the seed of interest in their heads. Hell, a teacher is the reason why I pursued a degree in history!

At the very least, write a letter to a teacher who inspired you. It may not compensate for low pay, but it makes them feel appreciated and they know they reached someone and can make all the shit teachers have to take from students worthwhile. (Of course, I am not a teacher, but I think it's a great gesture.)
